We have just been told that we cannot include any music in our opening sequence that is copyrighted. Therefore we cannot use any of the music that we wanted to.
However I know a band who may be able to provide us with a backing track, who are not signed. 'The Dhandis' could make us a song with the type of instrumental we would like.

The introduction of this song is appropriate for the beginning part of our opening sequence, however it becomes very upbeat and therefore we decided against using it.

Feedback
In today's lesson, we gave the rest of the class our pitch. They then had to decide on what our target audience may be, and what kind of film (either Mainstream, Co-production or Niche) ours was.
They thought that our idea would be mainly targeted towards women under and over 25, as it's going to be a thriller, but not gory and too graphic, that stereo-typically, men like to watch. The main character, Red is a women and therefore they thought it would be better targeted at women.
They also said that the type of film could be either a Co-production, like the films Working Title makes, or even a Niche, the type of films that Warp X make. However, we decided that we would like it to be more similar to the Working Title films, suitable for most audiences but still with a slight individuality to it.

Another music idea
I thought this instrumental would be good to play in the background of our opening scene as the song is about a powerful woman (femme fetal) and our main character 'Red' has a 'femme fetal' personality. It starts off slow then picks up a faster pace which was the sort of thing we were looking for.

Developing 'Red Riding Hood' idea
Guys I was thinking that when we have shown the news report maybe she could turn it off then the music should start and fade in then we could do a shot of her pulling a stocking up her leg then a close up of her eyes and putting mascara on then an extreme close up of her putting red lipstick on then we could do a shot of the back of her putting the hood up then her walking out then a close up of her walking in the red heels and then everything else we said, what do you think?

The main theme for my moodboard is thriller/fairytale. I have tried to incorporate the modern twist that we plan on creating within the opening sequence. The colour I have used the most is red, to represent Red herself, but also death and slight sex appeal. When discussing what fairytales we could adapt, we were watching trailers, and the modern thriller of Little Red Riding Hood gave us some inspiration of the type of setting etc. When discussing how we could create the mysterious 2 minute opening sequence, we came up with the idea of using red lipstick, red nail varnish, red shoes and red contact lenses, as a symbol of her murderous yet temptress ways.
