Sweeney Todd Clip

The scary music shows that it is a horror film from the start, so the genre is easily seen by the audience. The atmosphere is established through life, it is dark and gloomy, and the only thing that is visibly seen and that stands out is the blood. The 'journey of blood' is all that is in the 2 minute clip, but it is still effective, possibly even more so, because you see where it starts and where it ends up. No characters are introduced throughout the clip which is quite original, the only one out of all three with no introductions of characters within the first 2 minutes. The first part looks animated, or CGI, which makes the audience think that it is an animated film, however, after watching past that clip they would see that it is not. There is a stylish use of credits (title sequence) which displays the themes of the film well.

Trainspotting Clip

The clip begins with a fast pace, and only one credit, which portrays that there wasn't enough time for a title to the film because of this fast pace. The upbeat music creates an energetic atmosphere. The introduction to the characters is diverse, naming each main one during the clip. The voice-over narrative shows that it could possibly be a personal story and therefore may be telling the story as a past event, looking back. There is a massive contrast between the upbeat music and the themes of the film - he mentions heroin which could mean an addiction, they were getting chased by the police at the beginning, and playing football. These three scenes may seem entirely separate from one another, however, the voice-over threads them together.

Office Space Clip

From the very beginning of this 2 minute clip, within the titles, the audience knows that it is a lighthearted comedy, aimed at teenagers or families. The music is upbeat, which conveys the fun genre clearly. We get an introduction into the main characters of the film, and a slight hint of their characteristics and personalities. It is a comedy set piece, we know that the whole film will not just be about the characters getting stuck in traffic, however there is no real evidence of what the film is actually going to be about. The production information credits are included from the first few seconds. When watching the clip, I found it hard not to smile at the stupidly amusing scenario of the main character trying to get into the correct lane in order to start moving, so I knew from that, that the film will be easy going and not too complex.
